Have you ever seen a snack too cute to eat? What about a snack that entices little ones to try a nibble? Recently I saw a few ways to make spider snacks and fell in love with how adorable they are for the spooky season and how you can change how they look and taste so quickly.
For this blog, I used crackers, peanut butter, hazelnut spread and stick pretzels. However, the amusing secret about this recipe is how simple it is to swap ingredients. All you really need are two round things (like crackers), something spreadable (like peanut butter or hazelnut spread) and small pretzel sticks. There is a list of ideas for alternatives below.
To create your spider sandwiches, gather your ingredients, grab a butter knife or spoon for spreading and follow these simple steps.
Start with a cracker and spread a generous helping of peanut butter on one side. I also used a hazelnut spread.
Place four pretzel sticks along opposite sides of the cracker, sticking one end into the peanut butter. I used full sticks on one sandwich and half sticks on the there for comparison.
Top with another cracker. You may need to add more peanut butter.
Apply small dollops of peanut butter to the top of the cracker to make eyes.
Eat and enjoy!
In my house, peanut butter is often used when creating treats for my dog, Hattie. While crafting these critters, I had a very attentive (and patient) audience, so I had to take her picture to share with you. Hopefully, everyone in your home enjoys these treats as much as Hattie and I did!
