The finalists vying for the Director position at the Daniel Boone Regional Library will be in Columbia to visit with library staff and the general public Monday, November 13. Everyone in the community is invited to a public forum at the Columbia Public Library Monday evening beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Friends Room. The candidates will be talking about their vision for the library among other topics, and will answer questions from the audience.
Those being considered for the director position are Matthew Hortt, Ph.D., the City Librarian for the City of Santa Clarita Public Libraries in California; Margaret Conroy, assistant director of the St. Charles City-County Library District in St. Charles, Missouri; and Robin Newell, a public library executive director in Emporia, Kansas.
After 21 years, Melissa Carr will be retiring, effective January 15, 2018. The ad hoc search committee of board members is working with the consulting firm Bradbury Miller Associates, a group specializing in library staff recruitment, as part of their new director search efforts. The committee hopes to announce who the new director will be before the end of the year.
