Welcome to 2020! As do many of us, I am looking forward to the possibilities that a new year brings. At DBRL, we will be wrapping up our current strategic plan while simultaneously developing our next three-year plan. Thanks to the results of our recent community survey, as well as some internal work, we already have a number of ideas for increasing and improving our services to you.
One major project coming this April will be to ask the voters in Callaway County to consider a modest tax increase in order to sustain and expand services in Callaway. The current voter approved levy of 20 cents per $100 of assessed valuation was set in 1967, and is no longer able to support the cost of providing robust library services. Our goal with the tax increase is to expand the collection, to extend more services via outreach and to make permanent the branch in Holts Summit. You can find more information about the tax levy proposal on our Callaway County Library District Levy page. There are also two public forum events coming up (February 19 at the Callaway County Public Library and March 3 at the Holts Summit Public Library) which will include Q&A sessions.
I look forward to continuing our mission of library excellence.
