“Quest”

Playing at the True False Film Fest in 2017, this film is the moving portrait of the Rainey family living in North Philadelphia. Beginning at the dawn of the Obama presidency a married couple raise a family while nurturing a community of hip-hop artists in their home music studio. It’s a safe space where all are welcome, but this creative sanctuary can’t always shield them from the strife that grips their neighborhood.
“Motherland”

Shown at the 2016 True False Film Fest, this film shows the world’s busiest maternity hospital, located in Manila, Philippines, using cinema vérité approach to show the understaffed and overcrowded delivery rooms of the facilities. At first, the surrounding people are strangers. But as the film continues, it’s absorbingly intimate, rendering the women at the heart of the story increasingly familiar.
“The Force”

This film, shown at the 2017 True False Film Fest, goes deep inside the embattled Oakland Police Department as it struggles to reform itself amid growing local controversy. The film focuses on the new chief brought in to effect reform at the very moment the Black Lives Matter movement emerges to demand police accountability and racial justice both in Oakland and across the nation.
